Fred Phelps Stoned to Death for Wearing Tweed

...is the only headline that would top this one:

Bikers roll to military funerals to oppose anti-gay protests

The AP via CNN.com reports:

FORT CAMPBELL, Kentucky (AP) -- Wearing vests covered in military patches, a band of motorcyclists rolls around the country from one soldier's funeral to another, cheering respectfully to overshadow jeers from church protesters.

They call themselves the Patriot Guard Riders, and they are more than 5,000 strong, forming to counter anti-gay protests held by the Rev. Fred Phelps at military funerals.

Phelps believes American deaths in Iraq are divine punishment for a country that he says harbors homosexuals. His protesters carry signs thanking God for so-called IEDs -- explosives that are a major killer of soldiers in Iraq.

The bikers shield the families of dead soldiers from the protesters, and overshadow the jeers with patriotic chants and a sea of red, white and blue flags. (snip)

Needless to say, Fred Phelps is a piece of sh-work. A lunatic in Kansas.

W even thinks he's a coot.

He believes that God hates America.

So much for "God is Love" that Christians learned in Sunday School. Oh no.

He makes Pat Robertson look like a frickin Unitarian.

According to Wikipedia Phelps' supporters even picketed a FRED ROGERS' memorial for NOT denouncing homosexuality during his lifetime. MISTER ROGERS!

I hope the devil has a special fire ready for this gay cowboy:

Fred Phelps, easily the most repressed homosexual ever.

Why are Reddit users such Assholes?

Too many good sites are being demoted into oblivion on Reddit.

The theory is simple. Promote stuff you like and demote stuff that is stupid. But, what if the users demote things on a whim or according to technosnobbery?

I suspect some of the users of Reddit to be ubergeeks with zero social skills and are doing it for kicks and to promote self-esteem. Sure there are assclowns that demote posts around their own to make theirs look better, but I think most of the 'over-demoters' are intent on rating every single post to their own standard. Like demoting anything about Google or Bush.

So should there be a standard?
Surely not. Impossible to establish. Impossible to enforce. Sure death of Reddit.

What's the answer?
Reddit should employ an "IGNORE" option in between the up and down arrows on each post!

Each user should remember that every post does not have to be rated. Just because you clicked on something, doesn't mean you have to rate it. The key is to let it go. No opinion and no comment is just fine.

Are you a Reddit asshole? Take a pill and chill.

Discuss amongst yourselves and of course feel free to ignore it.

The Omnipotent Poobah Speaks!: Press Briefing Turns Ugly - Malveaux, McClellan Engaged

Great work OP!

Bottled water, a natural resource taxing the world's ecosystem

Bottled water, a natural resource taxing the world's ecosystem

Bottled water causing environmental problems. Really? What a surprise.

Taking clean tap water, running it through a filter and putting it into a PET bottle is wasteful? Say it ain't so!

It takes oil and natural gas to make PET bottles. Some 1.5 million barrels of oil annually. And then there's the waste stream created. More energy to carry it to the dump or city recycling center. More energy to transport it to a recycling plant or China. Why is oil $60+ a barrel again?

$8-10 a gallon?
People complain about gasoline being $2 a gallon, but think of it this way...Buy gasoline in a 16 ounce bottle and suddenly $2.109 becomes 26 cents, taxes paid. Think about it next time you spend $1.25-1.50 for 16 ounces of Dasani or Aquafina.

I've personally seen Aquafina being bottled. City tap water is run through a filter and put directly into the bottles. No magic here folks, just an amazing profit machine. You thought carbonated sugar water was a money maker? Try 500+ gallons for a dollar, being sold retail for over $4,000. $4,000.00. Quite a profit margin for filtering clean water.

You're better off buying 1 bottle, refilling it and recycling it when its funky.

Anyway, I need a chuckle, so check out this list of normal items with their cost per gallon:

    Chanel No. 5 Perfume: $45,000
    Nail Polish: $1,000
    Visine Eye Drops: $740
    Cough Syrup: $100
    CSun-block lotion: $90
    Pepto-Bismol: $60
    White-out: $25
    Evian bottled water: $20
    Coffee from coffeehouse: $19
    Corona beer: $13
    Snapple: $10
    Coke: $8

Cartoon on Cartoon violence has to stop

Foxtrot

Okay, now that we're done with a subtle reference in a tame US comic, let's move on to the real deal. People are dying over cartoons. Cartoons? The most I've ever gotten out of a cartoon is a good hardy chuckle at a Dilbert or The Far Side or a good thoughtful, 'Huh' out of Calvin & Hobbes or Non-Sequitor.

I don't think I've ever, nope never gotten even the slightest bit pissed off about a cartoon. Not even a little bit offended at the most hate-filled cartoon imaginable.

It's a fuggin' cartoon!

And they aren't even that good...The only one worth a damn is easily "Stop Stop, We ran out of Virgins."

Do the Muslims so offended to violently protest really care THAT MUCH what some Dutch guy thinks? OR, as it seems to be coming out in the open, are the Muslim Fundamentalist powers-that-be provoking and SPINNING these cartoons that were first printed in the fall of last year. Four months ago. They were RE-Printed in an Egyptian newspaper in October 2005 and really just didn't cause that much of a row. Until now. The power of the fundamentalist Muslim leaders over their people to woop them into a frenzy is amazing. Unfortunately, it's not Amazing Grace.

I'm really glad that Syrians, Iranians, Egyptians, Indonesians, Afghans et al. are all learning well from the Karl Rove university of SPIN.

What Would Jesus Drive? WWJD?

Okay, so here's the question...What kind of vehicle would Jesus drive?

I say a VW new Beetle TDI on biodiesel. 44 MPG on renewable fuel. Or would He drive a flexfuel car and turn water into wine into fuel ethanol? Now, that would solve the oil problem! No more debating ethanol when all you need is water.

It's likely that He would walk A LOT and possibly bicycle.

Seriously folks, chime in and debate this one. And no, we will not be having a What Would Mohammed Drive?

Unlikely Climate Change Foes - Evangelicals

Evangelical Leaders Urge Action on Climate Change in direct opposition to President Bush and many 'Religious Right' leaders, such as Dobson, Robertson and Graham.

According to NPR, 86 evangelical leaders have signed on to "The Evangelical Call to Action."

Wow, that's not something I expected to hear this morning on NPR! Turns out a majority of evangelicals connect evironmental stewardship with their religion and nearly 3 in 4 support environmental issues, according to an Ellison Research Study.

It's just unbelievable to me when all I see around me are big SUV's withe little 'fish' and Calvin praying under a cross sitckers. But then again, they're mostly Southern Baptists, so they are probably the 1 in 4 that DGAF about the environment.

So what would Jesus Drive???
whatwouldjesusdrive.org

I'd say a TDI VW BEETLE, but who knows? Maybe I'll start a discussion, eh?

NSA Wiretaps - An Unbelievable Administration Lapse of Judgement

Alrighty, well here's my first pissed off post. Every day that the administration continues its argument that the wiretapping of domestic Americans is legal is another insult to our Constitution.

Monday, Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee and in un-sworn testimony continued the denials. Republicans and Democrats alike grilled him, and Arlen Spector (R-PA) argued the point that the President should not have taken the authority on his own and Russ Feingold (D-WI) even accused him of lying in his 2005 confirmation hearing regarding AG blanket approval to law-breaking.

The right's discussion on the Internet has really centered on politicizing this issue and many are screaming liberal bias. I don't see how this is left or right nor Republicn or Democratic issue at all. It's a black and white legality issue.

I don't see any gray in FISA. It requires the Attorney General, his lawyers, NSA lawyers and the President to do their jobs.

Allowing the executive branch to violate the Constitution in this way is a clear slippery slope and must be stopped by either Congress or the courts via one or all of the lawsuits filed to date.

Even former President Carter has spoken out against the illegal wiretaps:
"Under the Bush administration, there's been a disgraceful and illegal decision — we're not going to the let the judges or the Congress or anyone else know that we're spying on the American people," Carter told reporters. "And no one knows how many innocent Americans have had their privacy violated under this secret act."

He continued with criticism directed at Attorney General Gonzalez:
"Obviously, the attorney general who said it's all right to torture prisoners and so forth is going to support the person who put him in office. But he's a very partisan attorney general and there's no doubt that he would say that, I hope that eventually the case will go to the Supreme Court. I have no doubt that when it's over, the Supreme Court will rule that Bush has violated the law."

FISA was passed in 1978 during Carter's administration, so he should know.

Some Good News: the AP reports that Mr. Carter's eldest son, Jack, has announced his candidacy for US Senator from Nevada.

RIP Coretta Scott King

Coretta Scott King was a major force behind the civil rights movement both before her husband was shot and rising to the forefront afterwards. Everyone admired this Queen of queens and she was the hero to millions upon millions, without whom America and the world would be so much worse off. Would Oprah Winfrey be a force if not for Coretta? Would Maya Angelou have had the courage she has displayed in her works? Millions upon millions of others would not have risen to their current level without her inspiration. Gladly, her earthly end was peaceful and not at the hands of a killer.

157,000+ mourners have paid their respects in the last 3 days.
10,000 people are expected at her funeral today in Atlanta, GA. Included are President Bush and former Presidents Carter, Bush and Clinton. Eulogist will be her youngest daughter, Bernice, her youngest child and Maya Angelou is scheduled to speak.

Oprah Winfrey said, "
She leaves us all a better America than the America of her childhood."

Her body will be placed next to her husband's at the King Center in Atlanta, where the inscription reads, "And now abide Faith, Hope, Love, These Three; but the greatest of these is Love. 1st Corinthians 13:13"

Thirty Dollar Watch

Hello and welcome folks.

I'm $30 watch and I guess I should begin by explaining why the name. Well, first of all I don't believe in Rolexes or any watch costing more than $30.
I can't rationalize spending more than that for a functional piece worn on the wrist, easily damaged and easily lost. I tend to abuse watches by banging them into doors, walls and other hard objects, like the ground.

My most recent watch was purchased at k-mart on clearance for less than $6. It's nothing fancy, blue face analog withe date. It's lasted almost 2 years so far without somuch as a new battery.

So, what's withe 'withe?' Well, I am lazy, er, efficient, yeah that's the ticket, efficient, so I combine with and the as one word. In fact, I've setup autocorrect in M$Word to change withe to with the, so non-efficient types will understand emails.

Stay tuned, I don't know what for, but as things piss me off you'll be able to read about them here. Also, techology and inventions interest me. Nothing is off-limits...except Rolexes.

Peace,
$30
